About Alexia

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with a Master of Arts in Counselling through Yorkville University. In addition to focusing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I have also received certification in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) as well as experience working with distress management and emotional regulation.

I practice a holistic approach to therapy that focuses both on the physical and cognitive symptoms that manifest through attachment wounds, anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. By working with approaches that target the mind, such as CBT in conjunction with more somatic modalities like Mindfulness we will work to consolidate all parts of one’s self to achieve your goals and heal in a way that improves your quality of life. My approach integrates one’s established strengths and utilizes them while also exploring and practising new skills and coping mechanisms.

Further, Mindfulness training will help us to work on approaching life with a non-judgmental attitude that limits us from feeling overwhelmed or over-reactive and instead encourages our mind and body into a state of peace and comfort.

Through understanding, patience and positive regard we will work at your pace to process unfavourable circumstances, deconstruct maladaptive thinking patterns and work through somatic symptoms that are acting as barriers from you aligning with both your mind and body. We will aspire to create and fulfilled and evolved version of yourself!
